YAIRN (pronounced Yarn) brings together the wealth of education and teaching in anaesthesia and critical care in Yorkshire.

What is YAIRN?

Founded in 2024 it acts both as platform to highlight existing courses and teaching throughout Yorkshire whilst also providing stand alone teaching programmes for both Core and Advanced training.

Educational Networks

Our educational provision is structured through dedicated branches Core, Advanced, Exam Preparation, and Intensive Care Medicine.

We also recognise the importance of non-clinical development, ensuring you are aware of sessions focused on leadership, teaching skills, quality improvement, research, and career progression.

YAIRN Core

Educational program designed for anaesthetic trainees in their initial years of training (CT1-CT3). Focuses on essential knowledge, skills, and competencies required for core anaesthetic practice.

YAIRN Advanced

Targeted at higher trainees (ST4-ST7) focusing on advanced techniques, subspecialty training, and leadership development in anaesthesia practice.

YAIRN ICM

Specialised program for Intensive Care Medicine trainees at all levels, focusing on critical care principles, advanced organ support, and complex patient management.

YAIRN Exam

Focused preparation courses for the FRCA (Primary and Final) and FFICM examinations, providing comprehensive revision materials, mock exams, and expert guidance.

CART & START

South Yorkshire teaching programme for both core and higher trainees, both running for half a day every month.

CART is for Core/ACCS residents and focuses on novice skills and preparation for the primary FRCA, organised by the DGH college tutors.

START is for higher trainees and those post primary FRCA, with a stronger emphasis on career preparation and non-clinical skills.
